About SPANAgifts

SPANAgifts is an online catalogue where the presents you buy help to make life better for working animals in some of the world's poorest countries.

Our Happy Hooves alternative gifts (available from the 5th October 2009) are perfect for the animal-lovers in your life. With each one you buy, you'll receive a unique gift pack to pass on to them. And the best thing is, we'll use your gift to purchase vital medicines and equipment needed for our veterinary and education acivities across countries in Africa and the Middle East.

You'll also find a fantastic range of Christmas cards, e-cards and fun gifts.

Whichever gifts you choose to buy, you'll be helping SPANA ease the pain and suffering of thousands of working animals.

About SPANA

SPANA was established in 1923 and is one of the longest serving international animal welfare charities.

Some people think of SPANA as an animal charity that helps people. Others think we are a people charity that helps animals.

We’re happy to have it both ways. Without SPANA, people would be worse off and animals would be in pain and misery. Because of what we do, there are more happy, healthy animals, working hard and earning an income for their owners. This in turn puts food on the table and can pay for their children to go to school.

Through a network of 19 animal hospitals and 21 mobile clinics, SPANA provides free veterinary treatment to around 400,000 animals each year in some of the poorest communities across Africa and the Middle East.

SPANA's education programme also teaches owners and schoolchildren - the future generation of owners - the best way to care for their animals.

As well as providing long-term support in Morocco, Mali, Mauritania, Tunisia, Ethiopia, Jordan, Syria and Algeria, SPANA dispenses emergency relief to animals affected by wars and natural disasters.

When you have purchased your gifts, you might like to visit our website at www.spana.org to find out more about our vital animal welfare programmes around the world.
